The HPD Open Standard specification is harmonized with a growing number of rating and certification standards in the building industry.
Quality Data
Rating and certification programs often prefer or require HPD data to make health claims or product recommendations.

A verified HPD carries a great deal of weight in the marketplace. The TPV Program objectives ensure that the integrity of a verified HPD through an objective process that results in quality data and wide integration of that data into other programs:

Maintains a strong methodology for third-party review and verification of completed HPDs.

Assures that an HPD complies with The Open Standard and LEED v4 requirements and once verified that it has its data source-verified

Maintains credentialing and continuing education for organizations and individuals carrying out these objectives.

How Verified HPDs Are Perceived

The HPD is a self-reported declaration of product contents and associated health information. Non-verified HPDs have an important role to play in the material health field serving as the standard specification for the accurate, reliable and consistent reporting of product contents and associated health information, for products used in the built environment.

HPDC’s TPV program is not a certification or declaration that a product is “safer” or the more preferable choice. The HPD Open Standard specification is harmonized with a growing number of rating and certification standards in the building industry that use HPD data to make health claims or product recommendations. Those programs often prefer or require verified HPDs for this purpose.
