Role 3: Verification Process Integrity
A question that often comes up is: How much help can I provide to the manufacturer as a verifier? This brings us to the integrity in the verification process remaining impartial.
TPV Roles For Maintaining Verification Process Integrity:
Apply The Standard
The TPV correctly and reasonably applying the HPD Open Standard, attesting for the quality of the HPD on behalf of HPDC.
Address Inconsistencies
TPVs address inconsistencies or errors in how the manufacturer/preparer has applied the HPD Open Standard.
Roles Not Included:
The TPV role does not include obtaining a specific outcome for the manufacturer.
The TPV role does not include teach HPD basics. The manufacturer, with or without the help of a qualified preparer, should submit an HPD for verification that does a reasonable job of complying with the HPD Open Standard.
Keeping verifier and prepare roles separate
To maintain the integrity of the verification process, organizations that have been approved as HPD TPVs may prepare HPDs, and can also be HPD Approved Preparers. However, organizations cannot verify the same HPD that they have in any way been involved in preparing.
HPDC does not specifically prohibit working in dual roles for the same manufacturer on separate HPDs, especially if they are from completely different product lines. Use your best professional judgment, and check with HPDC for clarification.
