Lesson 2 – Approved Preparers & Third Party Verification

Approved Preparers and Third Party Verification

Working with Approved Preparers

If you decide that preparing HPDs on your own is not the best fit for you at this time, whether because you don’t have the time or internal resources to gather the data, the HPDC Approved Preparer Program may be a good fit for you. This program enables manufacturers to work with independent preparers to ensure that HPDs they have created are compliant with the HPD Open Standard.

We encourage you to explore and contact directly the Approved Preparers in our program page, to learn more about their services and how they can meet your preparation needs.

Third Party Verification

In addition to the Approved Preparer program, the HPD Collaborative has developed the Third-Party Verification Program that has been established to manage the credentialing and methodology for independent review and verification of completed Health Product Declarations (HPDs).

This Program provides a framework for an additional level of assurance that a completed Health Product Declaration (HPD) fully complies with the HPD Open Standard, includes the data elements required by specified certifications (such as LEED), formulation reporting matches supporting documentation and is in accordance with the HPD Open Standard, and non-disclosed proprietary information the verifier has obtained is accurately represented.

An HPD third-party verifier confirms that the HPD report is fully supported by documentation of the product’s formulation.

You may learn more about the program and the HPDC Third Party Verifiers on our TPV program page
